Reid Soria from Autism Sings to perform Friday Sept 25 at PorktoberQue

PorktoberQue is pleased to announce that Friday September 25 at 6pm, Reid Soria will perform on the main outside stage. Reid is an impressive young man who has a fantastic voice and an even more fantastic outlook on life.

Reid was born in November 1985 at Eglin AFB, FL. One year later his military family was relocated to Europe. While living in base housing (Nellingen Kaserne, near Mohrengin, Germany) Reid began to show signs of severe developmental regression.

At the age of three, Reid was diagnosed with autism and the prognosis the doctors gave his family was very grim. In fact, the only recommendation offered by  “the experts” was to quietly put him in an institution, as there was very little hope for any significant progress.  This option was very quickly rejected. There were not many resources available in those days, but his parents were determined to improve the chances for the quality of life for young Reid.

The years that followed were filled with great friends, sister Joanna, and many others encouraging  and working with Reid and his needs. School teachers and school psychologists were passionate in their efforts to help this young man progress.  The long journey was one filled with hope, faith, and perseverance and has brought Reid to the point where he is now, surpassing all expectations.  He graduated from Choctawhatchee High School, Fort Walton Beach, FL in June 2004.

Screen Shot 2015-05-19 at 8.50.04 AMAbout five years ago, it was discovered quite by accident that he had developed a talent for singing. Since then he has sung in musical productions from Pensacola to Tallahassee, and all the way down to Orlando at the Family Café Governor’s Summit and up into Alabama as well and is a frequent entertainer in many of our local community events. Along with providing entertainment for many private events, Reid has also participated in many fundraisers for the Autism Pensacola Inc. Connecting the Pieces annual gala, Building Homes for Heroes, the Autism Society of the Emerald Coast, Relays for Life and the annual United for a Good Cause (Inc.) Christmas Party for underprivileged children. Reid was invited to sing at the annual UCF CARD Conference in Orlando, January 2015. His performance in Orlando resulted in an invitation to sing at the UMN NSU CARD Tropical Nights Gala, InterContinetHotel Hotel, Miami in May 2015.

He is a favorite to perform the national anthem (a capella) at sporting events (Pensacola Blue Wahoos, Pensacola Ice Flyers, Birmingham Barons), as well as City, Veterans, and military events and retirements.  His singing was an integral factor in his selection to perform in the local fundraiser, “Dancing with Desire.”  He had the chance to share the stage with several dancers from the “Dancing with the Stars” show. Reid took dancing lessons at the local Fred Astaire Studios in preparation for his singing and dancing to the classic “Sway” in the style of Michael Buble’. His dancing lessons continue at Fred Astaire and he is  loving every minute of it.

Screen Shot 2015-05-19 at 8.47.57 AMReid released his debut album, “Imagine the Possibilities” in 2013, and he continues to pursue his career in singing and entertainment. He welcomes the opportunity to enlighten the general public that everyone has gifts and talents to share. We hope his life will serve to encourage those who hear him to imagine the possibilities for their own lives and pursue their dreams with courage and conviction.  Reid’s repertoire includes covers of songs recorded by Josh Groban, Michael Buble’, Owl City, along with other oldie, rock,  and easy listening selections. When words fail, Autism Sings!

Please contact us at his entertainment company, Autism Sings, LLC for a complete list of his songs, his engagement availability, and our price list at (850) 864-4539, (850) 865-7439 or at autismsings1985@yahoo.com.

Featured Entertainment Report- Los Locos

Each day this week we’d like to let you know about some of the great musical talent that will be appearing at PorktoberQue on September 27th and 28th at the Houston County Farm Center. We have many more acts than listed here, and you can learn more about the performers on http://porktoberque.com/entertainment

Today’s Featured Artist- Los Locos

Los Locos, originally comprised of musicians Juan Cepero & P.J. Muller, began during the summer of 2012 with an acoustic guitar and a heap of cover songs to conquer. After collaborating in high school, they kept Joe Buggs in mind, as one of the best drum set players in the southeast. This recently allowed them to form their new funk and blues trio, LL3. The electric sound is unique and energetic, magnifying audience interest with original material and their groove-enhanced versions of cover songs. The two-piece (still available for booking) that began their not-so-average, yet innovative, homemade genre of soulful and funky tunes has definitely allowed space for growing room. Nevertheless, whether it’s the throwback hits or songs off of their new EP, Los Locos and the trio allow their harmonies and percussive backgrounds to ensure your inner ear is its comfort zone.

Playing on the outside stage Saturday September 28 from 6-9PM

Friday Night Entertainment for PorktoberQue Announced

SomerTyme Productions has sponsored the entertainment in the central Festhaus Tent from 5pm-9pm on Friday Oct. 5 for Porktoberque.  SomerTyme Productions is a regional booking and talent company that handles production and booking for many area acts. They will be featuring two of their favorite entertainers for the main stage area on Friday evening.

The fun will kick off at 5:00 pm starting with a redneck comedy/song artist “Big Jimmy”. Big Jimmy is known for his funny redneck voice, comedic song remakes and his rib-tickling jokes. His performance contains a comedy skit that goes into songs. For example: He would tell  jokes about farming and then go into this song after the joke http://www.reverbnation.com/play_now/song_13308332 and then tell another joke maybe about him living in a redneck trailor park and then go into this songhttp://www.reverbnation.com/open_graph/song/13153046 and so on. Think “Larry The Cable Guy” meets “Weird Al Yankovich”. Big Jimmy also has a partner by the name of “Cracker Jack” that acts out the events in the songs.

Then, after a short break, “THE ECHO” will perform Friday night. Here’s their bio: “THE ECHO” originating from the small town of Echo, Alabama, came together in September of 2011 as a group of friends that shared an impeccable love of music hoping to bring a new and unique sound to the musical world with their soulful songwriting and anomalous lead vocalist that sings and plays the drums at the same time. Members: Brandon Hudson – Drummer/Lead Vocalist, Trent Etheredge – Bass Guitarist, Spencer Enfinger – Rhythm Guitarist/Vocalist, Ryan Welch – Lead Guitarist/Vocals You can hear them here http://www.reverbnation.com/somertymeproductions

“SomerTyme Productions” is a band developing business “BDB” that collaborates with individual artists and musicians to form full scale bands for live entertainment….including studio, booking, and management. Call Bobby Somers at 334-791-3751 to inquire about booking either of these bands or the many other groups they currently promote.
