All children are invited to stop by the Girls Scouts booth and make a free craft that they can take home to remember their visit to PorktoberQue! There are chickens and pigs to make, and it’s sure to keep the kids entertained and busy for a while. I managed to make these “samples” at the office, and they turned out kind of cute. There’s no cost and both boys and girls are encouraged to stop by the Girl Scouts booth to participate.
Just about EVERYONE is a fan of the blockbuster movie, Ghostbusters. If you come to PorktoberQue October 5-6 in Dothan, Alabama, you can meet some of our state’s biggest fans! The Alabama Ghostbusters will have a booth and be present in costume to talk with other fans, entertain the kids and have fun at our event. Below is a little information taken from their web site, http://alabamagb.com
THE ALABAMA GHOST BUSTERS will have a booth space both days of the festival and it is FREE ADMISSION to the festival and free to visit with the Gohostbusters during the event! Bring the kids, bring a camera and prepare to have fun!
We have seen a vision of the future of community festivals! One where the businesses work together with non-profits and the festival organizer promotes them all, in a free admission festival that the whole community can be proud of….
We might be a few years off of our goal, but one thing we can do this year is offer Non-Profits a free booth space to promote their cause or raise funds for their charity. (Unfortunately, the free non-profit booths can not sell hot cooked food. Pre-packaged bake sales are ok, though.)
Our goal of PorktoberQue is to create something that the whole community can come out and enjoy, while supporting many charities and groups at one time. There’s no admission cost, and there will be live music both days (October 5th bands play from 5-9pm and Saturday October 6th bands are on stage from noon- 9pm). There’s no cost to park the car or hear the bands, either. Just time and space to visit with family and friends and support the community spirit. Maybe one day, we’ll manage to get more businesses involved as sponsors so we can grow PorktoberQue, and then it can help so many groups in the Wiregrass who need to get their message out!
If you know of a non-profit group that would like to have a booth space at PorktoberQue, please have them call Pat at (334) 699-1475 and request a free 10′ space. Because we have to pay the Farm Center $25 a day for electricity, the free spaces don’t have electricity included. (If you need electric and wish to pay, we can put you in one of those spots).
There are also booths available to crafters, artists and home-based businesses and that fee is just $45 for the two days. A booth at a festival is a great way to promote your product, service or sell merchandise to a large crowd! Call (334) 699-1475 to reserve your space today. Deadline for free and paid booths is September 21 or when all spaces are taken.
