Sign up to take a class and learn how to be a KCBS Certified Barbecue Judge or Table Captain—
Ever wanted to become a certified BBQ judge, spending your weekends traveling the countryside tasting smoky meats, searching for that perfectly smoked morsel? Now’s your opportunity to begin that quest. In conjunction with PorktoberQue (October 5-6, 2012) the KCBS will be offering a judges training and certification class in Dothan. It will take place on September 22nd from 11-3 and will cover the four types of meats scored at a KCBS competition.
Class size is limited, but we still have 42 spaces open for students. The registration fee is $85 for non-KCBS members (but this will include a one-year membership in the KCBS and a subscription to the largest bbq newspaper published by a sanctioning body, the BULLSHEET). If you are already a member of the KCBS, your fee for the class is just $50 and you will receive your judges certification and card in the mail a few weeks after successful completion of the class.
If you are interested in signing up, there is a form available here (look to the left of this post on www.porktoberque.com) or you can call (334) 699-1475 to get a form emailed or sent to you via postal mail.
