BEER!

One of the biggest improvements to the 2017 PorktoberQue is the larger selection of beers available this year. Noting that local and regional craft beer sales are booming, plus having some legitimate imported German beers available, PorktoberQue has greatly expanded their beer offerings this year. There will even be two draft beer trucks (one inside the Festhaus Biergarten) and one outside near the food vendors) as well as cans available for sale.

Craft beer is significantly more expensive than commercially manufactured beers, because it is made in small batches using higher quality ingredients. For that reason, a 16 ounce cup of draft beer will be $6.75 at PorktoberQue, and 12 ounce cans of beer will be $5. PorktoberQue enthusiasts may want to take advantage of the souvenir beer stein available to the first 200 patrons beginning Friday night. The dated ceramic stein with the PorktoberQue logo is a whopping 20 ounces, and is available for $25 which includes your first draft beer. Refills in the ceramic stein, or any previous year’s PorktoberQue stein, are just $4.75, a savings of nearly 30%. So not only do you get a great souvenir stein, but you can save on beer purchases at the event and for years to come!

The draft beers that we have ordered for PorktoberQue include:

Folklore Brewing (Dothan, Alabama) Oktoberfest

Folklore Brewing (Dothan, Alabama) Goldenhawk (kolsch)

Goat Island Brewing (Cullman, Alabama) Colonel Festbier (marzen)

Goat Island Brewing (Cullman, Alabama) Hippieweisen (hefeweizen)

Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest – Brauhaus Miltenberger Collaboration (This is a very limited edition beer, only brewed for Oktoberfest and not to be brewed again. Each year, Sierra Nevada partners with a different German brewer to explore the roots of Germany’s famous Oktoberfest beers. This year, they’ve collaborating with Germany’s Brauhaus Miltenberger, whose approach to the classic style has been long admired. The result is a festival beer true to their style—deep golden in color with deceptively rich malt flavor and balanced by traditional German-grown whole-cone hops.)

Hofbräu Oktoberfestbier- Straight from Munich, Germany

Props Brewing (Fort Walton Beach, FL)- Oktoberfest Beer

Omaha Brewery (Omaha, Georgia. Right across the river from Eufaula, Alabama)- Gnat Knocker (helles lager) and 762 (brown ale)

Additionally, in the 12 ounce cans, we anticipate having Folklore Brewery’s Grateful Red (red lager), Goat Island Brewery’s Richter’s PIls (pilsner) and for those not as big of fans of craft beer, there will be MIchelobe Ultra and Bud Light available.

As inventory changes, there may be some additional beers available, and we hope to receive all we have ordered, though some substitutions are possible. We hope you’ll come and enjoy all the beers available at PorktoberQue this year!
