Live scores, updates and highlights from Saturday's third-round action at TPC Deere Run

The John Deere Classic should be a thrill ride this weekend after the first two rounds played a combined nearly 4 under par. There are currently 26 golfers at 10 to 14 under, including co-leaders Aaron Rai and C.T. Pan.
And while there are no superstars near the top of this board, there are still plenty of interesting stories. Players like Rai and Denny McCarthy are trying to win for the first time on the PGA Tour, while elite young players like Michael Thorbjornsen, Davis Thompson and Luke Clanton (who is still an amateur!) try to make a splash.
With two spots in the Open Championship up in the air for the two highest finishers not already in The Open, and with Jordan Spieth trying to find a bit of form ahead of that Open, there will be plenty to follow this weekend at the John Deere Classic.

Rai rises to the top
It could have been an even better start, but Aaron Rai starts birdie-birdie to take the solo lead. He just misses a 5-foot eagle look on No. 2 and is the first to reach 16 under on the week. Rai has held at least a share of the lead after two of the last three rounds dating back to last week.

Spieth puts a square on the scorecard
The dreams of a sub-60 round are all but gone as he makes a big mistake from the fairway on No. 13. With a wedge in hand, Spieth short sides himself and is unable to make his par. He drops to 13 under and 7 under with five holes to play. He rattled off five straight on his front nine, so maybe he can do it again.

T1. Jordan Spieth
There are now four players at the top and one of them is Jordan Spieth. Knocking in another birdie from just inside 14 feet on the par-3 12th, Spieth has gotten to 14 under and 8 under on the day. He has to play his next six holes in 4 under to shoot sub 60.

Spieth grabs his seventh birdie
Wow, wow, wow. The iron play is looking like vintage Spieth these last few holes. He kicks one to tap-in distance on the par-5 10th and puts his seventh circle on the scorecard. The magic number is officially in play with another par 5 and drivable par 4 still out in front of him needing five more birdies.

Spieth turns in 29
The two-time tournament champion just misses out on adding another birdie on the long par-4 9th. Spieth makes the turn in 6-under 29 and will have a chance to do the same and possibly card the second sub-60 round of the week. He is only two behind the leaders who have about one hour until they tee off.

Spieth tacks on another
He is running downhill at this point! That's four birdies in a row for Jordan Spieth and five on the card overall through his first seven holes. He climbs to 11 under and just three off the lead.

Back-to-back birdies for Spieth
He's walking with a little swagger right now. Jordan Spieth connects from 15 feet on No. 4 and stuffs one to 6 feet on No. 5 for his second and third birdies of the day. He reaches 9 under and is now only five off the pace. The leaders have yet to tee off, but Spieth is surging and showing what is out there.

Spieth grabs early birdie
That could be a big putt for the momo. Jordan Spieth connects from just outside 8 feet on the par-5 2nd to get into red figures early and climb to 7 under for the tournament. Conditions are ideal out there at TPC Deere Run and ripe for low scoring.

Spieth about to get going
The two-time tournament champion is about to begin his third round in a moment. He starts the day eight strokes off the pace after shooting a 4-under 67 on Friday to get to 6 under. His stats have been pretty in line with his season — 11th in strokes gained off the tee and outside the top 50 in the other three categories.
