Lots of Spanish mackerel are hitting off the Main Street Pier in Daytona Beach, but most or tne action is just at dayDreak and for the first hour of two after first light. The mackerel are hitting live fingerling mullet, live shrimp and artificial lures such as Gator spoons. The action extends from the first slough in 4- to 5-foot water all the way out to the end of the pier. Some trout in the 3- to 9-pound range are hitting live shrimp in the late afternoon. Fresh Water: Some bass good bass fishing sites this week are Lake Weir, Orange Lake, Lake Harris, Lake To-hopekaliga, Lake Tohopekallga, Lake Griffin and Lake Rousseau. Other areas yielding good catches of large-mouths include the Oklawaha River, the Withlacoochee River, the Clermont Chain and the middle section of the St.

Johns River. Rated as just fair for bass are Lake George, Lake Kerr, Lake Panasoffkee, Rodman Reservoir, the Tsala Apopka Chain and Lake Kisslmmee. Lake Kissimmee fishing has slowed during the past few days. Artificial worms are working best in most of the lakes when fished around shorelines and vegetated areas. Live shiners are a close second to plastic worms with surface lures and spinner baits tied as third best.

Surface lures work well in the Clermont Chain, Lake George, Lake Kerr, Lake Weir, Lake Panasoffkee and the Withalacoochee River. Crank baits are the least effective lures and open water is the least likely place to find the bass as they seek shelter under docks, under hydrilla, brush and other shaded Midwest League NORTHERN DIVISION Gallghr cf Lyons 3b Baines dh Pasqua rf Salas Boston If Paris 1b Guillen ss Mannq 2b Chicago Oakland 000 100 0001 110 321 OOx 8 Game Winning RBI DHenderson (7).
